KNITTED FOR YOU WITH LOVE

Aunties, sisters, mothers and grandmothers – we’ve got them all, except any men yet! Our small team of hand-knitters are scattered the length and breadth of Great Britain and each one of them uses extra care and attention when knitting and finishing a Picaloulou garment. That is why we always give credit where it is due and label our garments with each knitter’s name.

In today's throw away world, we believe that children should have an understanding of where the things they consume come from, so that they can learn to appreciate and cherish the work that has gone into making them. We also like to receive praise (who doesn't?) and feedback, so if you are happy with your purchase, why not drop your knitter a line and tell them, and even include a photo of you in your new gear?

Enjoy what you are doing - if you don't enjoy it, then don't do it!
I am married with two young boys and a Collie puppy. I recently gave up a demanding job and moved to the country where I am now enjoying a slower pace of life. I can't remember learning to knit I was so young! My parents have a school photo of me aged 11 wearing a mohair lace sweater that I had knitted for myself. If I am not knitting I do enjoy the countryside and taking my children and the dog on long walks.
I met the Queen when I was 12 and she said that 'Christina' was such a pretty name - I couldn't tell her that everyone calls me Tina! I love Dark Chocolate, The Mavericks and Love Actually (the movie) and one day I want to see the Northern Lights.

To be healthy and happy
I started knitting when I was 7 years old and the first thing I made was a hat for my doll. Both my mum and granny love knitting too, so I guess I caught the 'bug' from them. I can do just about any type of knitting now, as well as crochet, sewing and cross stitch. Outside of crafty things, I love travelling and really enjoy seeing the different countries.
I'm an old Romantic and fell in love at christmas in Paris and my favourite movie is Titanic. I just can't help dancing to Lady Gaga, I love flowers and my 2 dogs and am looking forward to having a family of my own!

Don't cross you bridges until you come to them
I started knitting when the handicraft teacher at school told me I would never be good at it - and can now do just about any type of knitting you'd care to throw at me! I am a pattern writer and have had two books published, but outside of knitting I also enjoy cycling, gardening, watercolour painting, football, birdwatching, walking and reading!
My all time favourite movie is Brief Encounter and you will always find me on the dance floor when Hi Ho Silver Lining comes on! I dream of one day finishing all the knitting I've got to do! Ahh well....

Let's do it, now!
i am married with 5 daughters, seven grand-children, three great-nephews and a great-niece and I live on a narrowboat with my husband and a fat white cat. I learnt to knit when I was seven, because my mum decided it was time I learned, but when I am not knitting I enjoy walking, reading, caravanning with my husband and I am also an actor/singer/writer/director.
My favourite movie is The Witches of Eastwick and I am a big fan of Bon Jovi. Believe it or not I am in the latest AgeUK advert, (ha ha I bet you can't spot me!). I love cherries but can't stand sweetcorn, and one day, when I turn 100, I am going to celebrate by going for a run on the beach in Cairns, Australia....

(Shopaholic motto:) You cannot take it with you!
I am a busy mother to two under 5's and a nutty dog called Jug (a Jack Russell). I am married and work full time. I took up knitting when I was 5 or 6 and learnt by watching my mother and other family members. I knitted my own school cardigan and spent most of my teens covered in Mohair, (80's fashion for you) earning pocket money by knitting up orders from a local wool shop. When I am not knitting I like walking the dog, taking the children to the park and watching Emmerdale and Corrie.
I love ice-cream, the Stereophonics and Rhianna - but have to own up to hating Marmite (yuk). One day I am going to buy a sports car and visit Dubai!

Take one day at a time
I live with my partner and have two grown up children and 7 grand-children! I started knitting at an early age, taught by my mother and grand-mother. When I'm not knitting, I love spending time with my grandchildren - anything from watching one of my grandsons playing at a junior league rugby match, to taking them out for a day's activities. I have knitted for several published knitting books and my knitting goes off to Paris, Milan and New York to name a few! I once even knitted a complete digestive system for a Biology teacher!
My favourite movie is 6th Sense and I can't help getting up to boogie with my grand-daughter who introduces me to all the latest music. I love Italian food but hate having my photo taken....and one day I dream of buying a little Pied a Terre in Alderny (where I come from) as I still get homesick!

Smile! - Whatever happens you've just got to get on with it!
I live with my husband, 5 guitars, 5 ukeleles, 2 keyboards, a zither and my husband's PA kit! I have one son and am retired now from community development. I am a Reiki master and work a few hours a week as an activity co-ordinator and an 'Exercise to Music' tutor for the elderly and disabled. I started knitting as a child and was taught by my mum, and besides the knitting and music, I also like travelling, writing humorous verse and my e-book reader!
My favourite movie is Happy Feet and I hold a Guinness Record for the highest number of people playing the same tune on the ukelele at the same time! One day I want to travel to Venice on the Orient Express (and maybe even tickle the ivories on the onboard piano!).

Life's too short to worry
I have two children - a girl and a boy, one at university and the other in sixth form. I have a passion for cats, shoes and Cadbury's fruit and nut chocolate! I come from a great family of knitters, and knitted my first jumper at age 8! Beside knitting, I enjoy trying to keep fit by running, gardening and spending time with my family and friends. I love sitting in the sunshine, my fave movie is Pretty woman and I can't help bopping to Billy Ocean's - When the going gets tough.
I am really proud that I learned to ride a bike at 37, and want to run a marathon next!

Never leave until tomorrow, what can be done today!
I am married with 3 children and 1 grandchild. My hobbies are gardening, cooking and baking and my favourite movie is Dirty Dancing. I started knitting at 5 and I still love doing anything creative. I love animals (especially dogs), everything about Nature and eating sushi - but can't bear baked beans!
Outside of knitting I enjoy garden landscaping, cooking & baking and dancing to anything with rhythm! My life ambition is to dive the Great Barrier Reef...

Never give up!!
I am married with a son and one grand-daughter and live with my husband and my Mini Schnauzer called Roger! My mother taught me to knit when I was about 6 and my grandmother taught me to purl. Beside knitting I also enjoy sewing, patchwork and quilting, plus reading and walking Roger. My all time favourite movie is Dirty Dancing and I simply have to get up and dance to 'Sisters are doing it for themselves'.
I am terribly proud of finally learning to ride a bike but would also like to train my dog to walk past another dog (without having a pop at it). If I could just get my husband to buy me another AGA, as I had to leave mine behind when we moved house, my life would be complete...

I have been married for 50 years and have 3 children and 7 grandchildren - and consider myself to be still young at heart and active! I started knitting at 7 years old (my mum taught me), but I also enjoy reading, Sudoku and travelling. I also love gardening and won Britain's Top Gardener in 1979!
My favourite movie is South Pacific and I love being retired, my husband and Borneo. My ambition is to cruise up the River Amazon.

Never look back, what will be, will be!
I am married to an artist and have a son who has Down Syndrome. I think the reason I started knitting was that I always loved making things and doing things with my hands, and the first thing I knitted was a Dr Who scarf, which I still have. My favourite movie is A Wonderful Life and I love reading romantic novels, watching cricket & rugby league and helping out at our local guides group.
I love spending time with my son helping him to read & write and play cricket and I really want to take him and my husband to visit New Zealand one day.

If something is pretty and covered in glitter then it’s worth having!
I work part time supervising 4-5yr olds eating their school meals, which can be challenging! As well as a receptionist at an opticians, i’m also studying Psychology with the Open University. I started knitting when I was 3, just squares at first, as my mum needed to keep me busy, but at age 18, after a friend gave me a pair of socks that she had knitted, I was determind to knit myself a pair and the obsession grew from there.
I’m a huge musical theatre fan and before I ‘kick the bucket’ I want to go to New York, see the musicals and find all the great knitting shops.
